Increasing Office Productivity - What to Expect
Leslie can work with you to get organized and become more productive in all areas such as task and priority management, calendar and time management, computer file and internet folder management, e-mail management, paper and file management, and contact management solutions, or she can present you with the steps to achieving greater organization and productivity on your own.
All consulting projects start with a kick-off meeting, lasting approximately one hour, which initiates the whole project. Through the use of a survey, this session allows Leslie to learn more about you and your goals and objectives, including a discussion about what's working and what's not working for you. You will have the opportunity to describe the issues and challenges that you have faced so that Leslie can outline the steps and systems that will help you achieve greater organization, increased productivity and peace of mind. Working sessions are three hours each and can be spaced apart in increments of a week or two weeks or as schedules permit. Initially, weekly appointments are recommended to achieve and sustain momentum in the beginning of the program.
| Paper and File Sessions | During these sessions, the focus will be on reference paper and files - in file drawers, on the floor, behind the door. Working in this phase, you can experience and learn the decision-making process for everything: understanding what to keep and where to keep it. A new system of filing will be started with new folders and new labels all customized to fit the way you think and for ease of finding and filing papers in the future. |

| Task Management Sessions | These sessions focus on setting up a system for managing your tasks and responsibilities on a daily basis. It begins with a tutorial about how to use 'Tasks' in your current system, whether you use Outlook, Palm, Entourage, Lotus Notes or another computer application. These consultations focus on all the papers, pads, post-its, etc. that represent actions you need to take. The process will help you to zero in on what you are doing from day to day, help you learn how to manage it and how to prioritize. This includes managing daily tasks, project-related tasks, follow-ups, meeting notes, future ideas, phone calls, etc. These sessions will also identify reference papers, new files to create, and a host of other things, but they will mainly focus on getting a single system together that represents all you need to do, have to do, want to do and dream of doing. |
| E-document and E-file Organization | These sessions are all about electronic document storage and retrieval. In this phase, Leslie will help you learn how to make decisions about what to keep and where to keep it all. This process will focus on creating the best system for you to find or file e-documents, taking into account where and when you typically need to access your files. While e-files and folders do not need to match paper files exactly, they generally need to reflect your paper file system for ease of use in the future, making it easier for you to remember where things are kept. |
| All Sessions: | Throughout each session, Leslie will also discuss time management and share helpful strategies for keeping control and focus, managing interruptions, and sustaining higher levels of productivity, all in a more peaceful working environment. |
Leslie is enthusiastic about your desire to be more productive in your work day. It may be easier than you think to get started and when you do, you may not want to stop!
